The goal of the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Association (MechE GSA) is to promote the social health and professional growth of the mechanical engineering graduate student community at UCSB. All voting members must be graduate students within the Mechanical Engineering department. All others, including graduate students with a Mechanical Department faculty advisor, and postdoctoral researchers with a Mechanical Engineering Department principal investigator, may be considered non-voting members.

President

The President schedules and leads biweekly meetings to discuss organizational matters, coordinates with faculty members to ensure effective communication and collaboration, and is responsible for developing and maintaining the constitution.

Vice President

The Vice President manages internal affairs within the organization, addressing issues and concerns, supports the President in their duties, and assumes responsibilities in their absence.


 

Event Organizer

The Event Organizer develops and executes plans for events hosted by the organization, including but not limited to the New Student Event in February and research talks, and works closely with the Treasurer to develop a budget ensuring proper allocations for events.

Treasurer

The Treasurer manages and maintains a detailed budget for the organization, monitors financial transactions, provides financial reports during meetings, and collaborates with the Event Organizer on budget development.

Secretary

The Secretary records accurate attendance and detailed minutes during meetings, maintains organized records including the member roster, constitution documents, and the organization’s general contact info and activities, and handles email communication, including announcements and responding to inquiries.

Marketing Chair

The Marketing Chair is responsible for developing and maintaining the organization's positive online presence through group accounts, including but not limited to the page on Shoreline, the website, and social media.
